Kind donation of books and photographs from Mr Anthony Bond.

We were delighted to receive an unexpected donation of AGS  photographs and books from Mr Bond, the son of a former pupil of Alcester Grammer School, Lydia Maud Mary Earp. Lydia, in her time, was Headgirl and was one of the few women, in about 1932, to go on to university.    Lydia’s elder brother also attended our school. Great family links.

She went to Sheffield Univesrsity with a County Minor Scholarship to study History & the Classics and did rather well there in that she won The Gladstone Prize whilst a student.

Mrs Earp died some years ago, but kept in touch with the School and in fact left a small bequest in her Will for the purposes of the Library.   Mr Bond kindly donated to the School Library the six books which came to her as part of The Gladstone Prize.

Thank you to Mr Bond for his kind gift.
